Cocoon at AWS Summit 2017

Cocoon recently attended the Amazon Web Services Summit 2017 at London’s ExCel Centre. We were part of the Amazon Launchpad showcase, presenting alongside Beeline ( and Roli (

Our team were showing attendees how Cocoon makes home security simple, so everyone can feel safe. The crowd was full of technology professionals. They showed a great interest in our Subsound® technology, and in how uniquely we use machine learning to better protect the home.

Rob Clarke, our Lead Developer, took to the stage to tell Cocoon’s story from a Research and Development perspective. He also explained how Amazon Launchpad has been a great support in Cocoon’s growth. Launchpad is a unique programme showcasing cutting-edge products to millions of Amazon customers, to accelerate the success of startups who are truly innovative. (There’s a little more information on Amazon Launchpad below.)

Check out our video of the highlights from AWS Summit 2017:

Mobile app release – 03/17

We’ve been working on some changes in the Cocoon app as a direct result of feedback we’ve had from our customers. We hope they will improve your experience with Cocoon.

Slider to manually arm or disarm your Cocoon

Customers told us that the manual arm and disarm button was easily pressed by mistake. In response, we’ve made the action slide only. This more definite gesture should reduce the risk of accidentally disarming your Cocoon when you need it to be armed; while ensuring it’s still incredibly simple to use.

Invite new members to your Cocoon household

Currently Android only, iOS coming soon

We’re planning lots of new features that will sit in the “Your Cocoon” part of the app. As part of this, we have moved the option to invite members to your household into the “Your Cocoon” section. Once there, the simple process of inviting new members is the same as ever.

What’s next?

We have lots of new features coming soon, but some of the most noteworthy things that we’re working on right now are:

  • Video downloads
Cocoon has been successful in capturing a number of burglaries and providing necessary footage to police. In the future, you’ll be able to download this footage yourself to send to the Police and/or your insurance provider.
  • Remove members from your household
We’ve had numerous customers requesting being able to remove someone from their household, this is coming soon and will be our first step in providing you with different levels of user access rights. As the Cocoon owner, only you will be able to delete other household members.

We’re always keen to hear how you’re getting on with Cocoon, get in touch by emailing [email protected] or joining the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
