We’ve been working on some changes in the Cocoon app as a direct result of feedback we’ve had from our customers. We hope they will improve your experience with Cocoon.
Slider to manually arm or disarm your Cocoon
Customers told us that the manual arm and disarm button was easily pressed by mistake. In response, we’ve made the action slide only. This more definite gesture should reduce the risk of accidentally disarming your Cocoon when you need it to be armed; while ensuring it’s still incredibly simple to use.
Invite new members to your Cocoon household
Currently Android only, iOS coming soon
We’re planning lots of new features that will sit in the “Your Cocoon” part of the app. As part of this, we have moved the option to invite members to your household into the “Your Cocoon” section. Once there, the simple process of inviting new members is the same as ever.
We have lots of new features coming soon, but some of the most noteworthy things that we’re working on right now are:
- Video downloads
Cocoon has been successful in capturing a number of burglaries and providing necessary footage to police. In the future, you’ll be able to download this footage yourself to send to the Police and/or your insurance provider.
- Remove members from your household
We’ve had numerous customers requesting being able to remove someone from their household, this is coming soon and will be our first step in providing you with different levels of user access rights. As the Cocoon owner, only you will be able to delete other household members.
We’re always keen to hear how you’re getting on with Cocoon, get in touch by emailing [email protected] or joining the conversation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Cocoon has just had some great global coverage. On Tuesday 28 February, Colin (Co-Founder and Head of Marketing) was interviewed as part of BBC World News, which is broadcast to over 200 countries around the world. It’s particularly great recognition to receive during our crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube. At the time of writing, we have nearly 600 investors committed to our mission of making home security simple & affordable for everyone.
Behind the smart home headlines
We were invited to take part in the “Behind The Headlines” segment of BBC Business Live at 20.00 GMT. Colin discussed how modern technology like Cocoon is becoming more prevalent in our homes, and its impact. He explained that “privacy and security of our data is of absolute paramount importance, and it will continue to be, as we move on to have more and more devices in the home”. Then reiterating that security is core to Cocoon and part of our team’s expertise.
Asked about Cocoon and how it works, Colin said, “We’re obsessed with great customer experiences and making home security simple, and what simpler way than to use a single device to protect the whole home?”
Our unique patented Subsound® technology “a combination of very low-frequency sound detection, and machine learning… able to detect human activity throughout the house” piqued the interest of interviewer, Tanya Beckett.
